Tonker, when it comes to buying head light bulbs for a car, the prices can vary from £5.99 to £29.99 and I know 3 rules of buying

1. buy cheap and buy twice
2. a fool and his money are easy parted
3. My rule which has stood me well,,, I always buy the best quality for the least amount of money, So

There are these different types of bulbs now, LED's and Kryptonite ones, which turn yoo into Supermon, but for the standard or even old now Halogen ones, I would expect to pay about a fiver, as in if you go to Halfords they will want £11 quid for two of them, but on Ebay you might get them for less than a fiver, my car does a silly thing if I stall it when the headlights are on , and that is that as soon as I crank the engine, a headlight bulb will blow, so if I stall the car at night, I have to remember to turn the headlights off, before I start the bloody thing

Tomplum,
You said 'a fool and his money are easily parted'.
Did you not mean 'a fool and his money are easily partying!'

Sam Vimes from Terry Pratchett's Discworld has a "Boots Theory" that may apply here (Or not)...

"A man who could afford fifty quid had a pair of boots that'd still be keeping his feet dry in ten years' time, while a poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.”
